Gower Isolation Support Group
A vital community lifeline during lockdowns, founded and led by our Director.
The Gower Isolation Support Group was established at the start of the pandemic to help vulnerable residents in Gower and surrounding communities. The initiative quickly grew to include 12 coordinators, over 70 volunteers and a 24/7 helpline.
- Set up and managed the community support network
- Coordinated volunteers, training and communication
- Responded to referrals from “concerned relatives’’ across the UK
- Provided food deliveries, prescription collections, DIY help and welfare checks
- Founded the Saturday Grub Club, delivering over 2,000 meals, including 100 Christmas dinners
- Maintained the Facebook support page (now 2,000+ members)
This initiative became a trusted point of support for isolated and vulnerable residents during a period of national crisis.
